2022-2023 Update: Book Club will resume in October, 2022. If you are interested in receiving updates, complete the form at the bottom of the page!
Hey parents – are you envious of all the fun stuff the PTO does for kids? Now it’s your turn!
What is Book Club?
Parent’s Book Club is a monthly club that gives parents in our community an opportunity to come together and discuss a variety of topics through books. We will select books that are primarily focused on the complexities of raising children in the modern, digital age. Participants will read the book, then come together to discuss what they’ve read and share thoughts. It’s a great way to approach parenting challenges, in a community setting!
How it Works:
Each month, the Book Club hosts will select a book that will be discussed at the next Book Club meeting. The book title and next meeting date will be published on this page, and will be communicated to everyone who has expressed interest in participating in Book Club. Please note, while reading the book prior to the meeting is ideal, attendees do not have to read the book in order to attend the meeting – you may listen to the discussion and add your own thoughts even if you haven’t read all (or any) of the month’s book.
Anyone who is interested in attending the meeting should then sign up through the monthly Book Club Sign-Up Sheet. Attendees have the option of what level of participation they are comfortable with:
- Lead a discussion ( This is for those who have read the entire book of the month and are able to cover those chapters that others don’t sign up to read and share)
- Lead specific chapters of the book (This is for those who have some time to read some chapters of the book and share their thoughts)
- Participants (Those who have interest in learning and sharing, but haven’t read the book or aren’t comfortable leading)
The first step is to fill out our Book Club Interest Form, at the bottom of this page. This lets us know that you are or may be interested in attending and participating. There’s no obligation – but by filling it out, you will be notified of upcoming books and meeting dates. Participants are not required to attend every month – come when you are able, or when a particular book piques your interest!
Then, if you are interested in participating in the current month’s book and meeting, please visit the Sign Up Sheets page to sign up to attend.
We would love to have you join us! If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to PTO President, Yvette Kaplan, firstname.lastname@example.org.
