This year Hillside is happy to offer the opportunity for families to join the school for the Halloween costume parade on Monday, October 31st on the fields at Hillside.
The school will hold two parades:
AM K, 1st and 2nd grades: 9:45-10:15AM
PM K, 3rd and 4th grades: 2:00-2:30PM
Students will briefly parade around the upper fields while family members may view from a designated viewing area on the field.
Students will not be changing into costumes in restrooms. Please consider these options when selecting your costume for school:
- The costume is comfortable and safe to wear throughout the school day allowing for movement up and down stairs as necessary.
- The costume can be independently pulled over the top of clothing at the designated time.
What are the costume guidelines?
Given the fact that the school is a place for young children, students and parents are asked to adhere to the guidelines that follow.
Costume Apparel to Avoid:
- Gory Subjects – costumes depicting blood and death.
- Weaponry – items resembling weapons.
In addition, please use care when selecting a costume which may be perceived as trivializing or promoting negative stereotypes based on color, religion, disability, national origin, or race.
By holding an AM and PM parade, the school hopes to alleviate some of the parking struggles. Please be aware that school staff will be asked to park on the street this day to open parking for families. However, additional on-street parking will be necessary for visitors. Do not block driveways of our neighbors. The gate on Cloverly will be open to allow for walking to the back fields.
The school will have sign-in tables on the fields and name tags for guests who are on school property while students are in the building.
Thank you for your help in keeping our school community safe while we have fun too!
